UK universities receive a record number of applications from international students
7th February 2019
Given the uncertainty surrounding the outcome of the Brexit negotiations, it is somewhat heartening to see that the UK's universities have actually seen an increase in applications from international students, particularly from China and Hong Kong, but also from within the EU. According to figures released by UCAS, there has been a 9% increase in the number of applicants from non-EU countries, compared to 2018, and a 1% increase in applications from within the EU (excluding the UK).
At the same time there has been no significant change in the number of students applying to university from England, but a fall in numbers from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
