Godstowe Preparatory School - High Wycombe
What is Godstowe like?
Godstowe is a school that exudes a happy, purposeful atmosphere where girls are given every opportunity to enjoy learning and develop the confidence and skills they need to succeed. The school was founded in 1900 as the first all-girls’ prep school and has always had close links with Wycombe Abbey which it maintains today. However, unlike Wycombe Abbey, which is an extremely selective senior school, Godstowe welcomes girls of all abilities. Godstowe welcomes both day girls, mainly from within a 20-mile radius of the school, and boarders from all around the world.
Godstowe aims to nurture each individual girl and provide an exciting and fun environment. Godstowe girls are self-confident and articulate and have a strong sense of spiritual awareness. There is a strong emphasis on creativity and collaborative learning and girls are encouraged to be curious and expert independent learners. Alongside a thorough academic curriculum which prepares girls for entry to a wide range of top senior schools, Godstowe offers exceptional opportunities for Music, Drama, Art and Sport. There are more than 50 extra-curricular clubs on offer to cater for every interest.
Would Godstowe suit my child?
Godstowe is a warm and welcoming school where most girls would be happy and successful. Although admission is non-selective the school will want to be sure that a child will be willing and able to take advantage of all the opportunities on offer.
How can I apply to Godstowe?
Godstowe is a very popular school and although not academically selective, the school is likely to be oversubscribed. Godstowe operates three classes in each year group up to the end of Year 4 and then adds a class in Year 5, which is a popular year of entry. Early application is advised to avoid disappointment.
